1. What Hooper Buddy is
Hooper Buddy is a training companion. It uses your webcam, inside your browser, to estimate body position while you practice, scores the form of each repetition, and gives spoken feedback through an animated character. It is a practice aid, not a certified coach, medical device, or safety system.
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 to create an account and manage billing. A parent or guardian creates and controls the account for any player under 18, sets the player age, and holds the parent PIN. You are responsible for keeping your login and PIN private.
3. Subscriptions and billing
Plans are billed monthly in US dollars at the price shown at checkout. You can cancel at any time from your account, and access continues through the end of the period already paid. Prices may change with at least 30 days notice by email before the change takes effect.
4. Acceptable use
Use Hooper Buddy for your own or your household's training. Do not point it at people who have not agreed to be tracked, do not attempt to extract or reverse engineer the models or the service, and do not use it to harass anyone.
5. Physical activity
You are exercising. Make sure you have space to move safely, and stop if you feel pain or dizziness. Scores are estimates from a camera and can be wrong. Hooper Buddy is not responsible for injuries that happen while you train.
6. Availability and changes
We may change, add, or remove features, companions, and supported sports. If we discontinue a plan you are paying for, we will refund the unused portion of that month.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Hooper Buddy's total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid in the three months before the claim.
8. Contact

The short version
Your video never leaves your browser. Pose tracking runs on your own device. The only training data sent to our server is numbers: the time of each shot, its form scores, and whether you marked it made or missed. We do not receive, store, or see camera footage or images of you.
What we collect
- Account data: email, display name, plan, and billing status. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor and never touch our servers.
- Training data: per-shot scores (elbow, release, follow-through, overall), attempt and make counts, session timestamps, and the companion, personality, language, and age band selected.
- Conversation data: what you type or say to your companion and what it says back, kept so it can remember you across sessions and so you can read your transcripts. Voice input is transcribed to text on your device by your browser; audio is not sent to us.
- Settings: companion, voice, language, age band, safe mode, and whether a parent PIN is set. The PIN itself is never returned to the browser after you set it.
What we do not collect
- Camera video or still images. Ever.
- Raw skeleton or landmark coordinates. Those are used on your device to compute a score and are discarded frame by frame.
- Microphone audio.
- Location, contacts, or anything from other apps.
How we use it
To score your form, to let your companion coach you and remember your progress, to run your account and billing, and to fix bugs. Scores and conversations are sent to an AI model provider to generate coaching replies; that provider is contractually barred from training on your data.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the processors we need to run the service (hosting, payments, AI model inference), each under a data processing agreement, or when the law requires it.
Retention and deletion
Training and conversation data are kept while your account is active so your companion can remember you. Delete a session and it is gone. Close your account and everything is deleted within 30 days.
Your rights
You can export or delete your data from your account at any time, and you can email us to do it for you: TODO: privacy email.
Children under 13
Hooper Buddy has an age band for players under 13, and it is designed so a child can train without giving us personal information. This section explains how we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Parents create and control the account
Only an adult can create an account and enter billing details. The parent selects the player's age band. Choosing an under-13 band turns on safe mode (no profanity, no body talk, encouraging tone only), locks out the slang personalities, and requires the parent PIN to change any of those settings.
What we collect from a child
Only what the service needs to work: form scores per shot, made or missed marks, session times, and the text of what the child says to the companion and what it says back. We do not collect the child's name beyond an optional display name the parent enters, and we do not collect email, address, phone number, photos, video, or audio from the child.
Webcam and microphone
The camera image is processed entirely inside the browser on the family's own device to estimate body position. No video frame or image is transmitted to Hooper Buddy or anyone else. Voice input is converted to text by the browser on the device; no audio is transmitted.
No advertising, no selling, no profiling
We do not show ads, we do not sell or share a child's data for marketing, and we do not build advertising profiles. Training data is used only to coach the child and show their progress.
Parental rights
A parent can review everything the companion has stored about their child in the Sessions and Brain views, delete individual sessions, delete all data, or close the account, at any time and without a fee. To request this by email: TODO: privacy email. We will verify that the request comes from the account holder before acting on it.
Consent
By selecting an under-13 age band and continuing, the parent consents to the collection described above. We will notify parents by email before any material change to what we collect from children, and we will obtain new consent where the law requires it.
